obviously, i love my son.  what i really love is this moment.  as you can tell from the toys strewn about the room, carlyle is constantly moving.  i love his curiosity, his wonder, his energy, his persistence, his gregariousness.  and yet, there are times when he chills out and sits quietly and doesn't need a thing from anybody (namely his sister or myself).   in this quiet moment, i can wonder about him all the more...all his facets.

i took this one several weeks ago...it's my cliche golden retriever picture (smiling dog & fire hydrant). but if we're to be posting pictures of things we love, well, charlie boy fits that description. just look at that face. here are some reasons i love him:
--he is always excited to see me when i come home,
--he is always ready to go for a run with me,
--he alerted me to "rob", the drunk college boy who tried to come in the front door at 3am,
and
--he has a magical way of bringing a smile to to the faces of strangers when we go for walks. i often wonder how i ever grew up without a dog? i'm sure you're probably thinking the same thing, right?
